Men chopping wood

Fence Post Ripping & WoodChop

Fence Post Ripping is hard work, intense and fast!  Our competitors must accurately slice down the length of the log provided to mark each post, which is then freed using wedges, hammers and crowbars. This event generates a big crowd, it’s definitely one to get in early for to get a seat in the grandstand!

The Woodchop Event is more than just a competition that tests speed in cutting through a log of wood with an axe, woodchopping is a sport for men and women and a blockbusting crowd pleaser!

In the sawing competition, technique is every bit as important as fitness and strength, whether it’s single-handed or double-handed. Don’t miss the Jack & Jill Sawing, often it is husband and wife on each end of the saw!

Friday Horse Program

Friday showcases our larger horse events.

Kyogle Shows Campdraft kicks off in the early morning, a fast paced and highly skilled event to watch!

The Stockman’s Challenge is a well-known event for Kyogle Show. A uniquely Australian sport, it is designed to celebrate the horsemanship skills required to work cattle in the bush.

The Stockman’s Challenge Event consists of a dry work pattern and a cattle work phase, designed to test the ability of horse and rider.

A new event with lots of interest is the Snaffle Bit Competition showcasing an introduction to the world of cutting.

The main idea of cutting is that both the rider and horse must enter the herd of cattle and try to cut one cow away from her herd members. Then they must hold the cow till it stops or turns away and repeat it 2-3 times, all within 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

The Competition encourages the participation and subsequent awareness of rural women’s contribution and involvement in both local communities and rural NSW as a whole. It is important the entrants have a genuine interest in, and knowledge of, rural NSW. The contestants meet other young women from rural NSW and gain great insights and personal development through this very rare experience.
